Evolving Needs of Engineering & Computing Education

As part of the IEEE Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering 2021 (CCECE 2021), the IEEE Canada Educational Activities Committee invites papers that focus on the evolving needs of computer and electrical engineering education. Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts that focus on sharing experiences on evolving trends and methods adopted to address the challenges encountered in present day academic ecosystem.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  1. Curriculum, Research Management and Development
  2. Learning / Teaching Methodologies and Assessment
  3. Course and Program Management
  4. Ubiquitous Learning including Accessibility, Distance Education and E-Learning, Virtual

Learning Environments, amongst others.

Special Session 2

AI-based advanced manufacturing systems and processes

Continuously increasing technical complexity of manufacturing systems and processes driven by consumers’ demand for more comprehensive products and services critically requires implementation and advanced use of artificial intelligent methods for process-system modelling, monitoring, diagnostics, prediction, optimization, classification and control. The focus of this Special Session is to demonstrate recent developments in a wide range of applications of AI in advanced manufacturing, automation, robotics, and control to increase precision, productivity, flexibility, and reliability.

 

Topics include, but are not limited to:

AI in advanced manufacturing systems:

  • AI-based modelling, optimization, and control
  • Digitization, cyber-physical systems, and digital twins
  • Digital manufacturing, assembly, integration
  • Augmented reality and virtual manufacturing

AI in advanced manufacturing processes and technologies:

  • AI-based modelling, prediction, classification, optimization, and control
  • AI-based system design and reconfiguration
  • Material additive, subtractive, relocation processes and technologies

AI in electrical and computer engineering:

Methods of machine, deep, and reinforcement learning
